So, as some of you may have noticed, there are some new buttons now appearing beneath each post, including older posts. This new widget allows you to quickly, anonymously, and concisely summarize your reaction to each post! The system is quite minimalist—no puzzling over particular star ratings or anything like that. Just a simple question, "how does this caption stack up?" with options to indicate the given caption is one you particularly like, particularly dislike, or find "just okay." This feedback, simple though it is, is invaluable, as it allows me to see which updates people really enjoy, as well as indentify those which sadly miss the mark. Thus armed, I will be able to produce more consistently high-quality, more enjoyable captions for everyone!
Of course, comments remain an excellent avenue for more detailed or specific reactions; if you'd like to explain or elaborate upon your vote, there's no better place to do so than right there in the comments. (bear in mind that an account is not necessary—anonymous comments are perfectly okay!) That said, for those who, understandably, don't want to take the time to write out an entire comment, the new buttons should provide a simple, one-click way to provide valuable feedback, and I'd really appreciate it if you'd consider giving it a try!
Plus, it helps you, too; if I can see a certain type of caption is particularly well received, there's a good reason to make more with those elements, resulting in more updates that make you glad you checked in. Everybody wins!
So please, give them a try!
Anyway, for those who follow the blog, I wouldn't want to disappoint you by pushing an update without a fresh caption, so here's a new caption inspired by the aforementioned voting system.
Why not use the new buttons to tell me what you think?
